Overview
The Manager of Global IT Network Services is someone who will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the company’s IT network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of networking technologies, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to lead a team of network engineers and administrators.
As manager, this person and their team will focus on the following main areas:
- Manage & help define the technical direction for network development along with their global connectivity initiatives.
- Maintain and monitor network performance and security compliancy.
- Identify and address network issues and vulnerabilities.
- Develop and implement network policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network systems.
Description
- Assess current technology architecture for network vulnerabilities, weaknesses and for possible upgrades or improvement.
- Liaise with the global, regional and local IT entities and business stakeholders to ensure the alignment of the network services to the needs of the business.
- Ensure accurate and regularly updated information related to network physical inventory, logical inventory, network diagram, network traffic flow, application network components/interfaces, technical troubleshooting documents and operational process documents.
- Drive implementation and oversight of technological upgrades, improvements, and major changes to IT network infrastructure environment.
- Manage network system audit engagements to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.
- Help define, plan and coordinate all global network policies and standards.
- Provide Capacity Planning and Performance Management for Global IT Networks.
- Support of ITIL related processes for change, incident, event, and problem management.
- Manage team supporting the WAN network including capacity, break/fix, network routing, monitoring, and availability. Implement new network services aligning to refresh cycle, improved services, or additional business requirements.
- Manage team supporting the LAN environment including connectivity, routing, monitoring, and break/fix. This would include firewalls, routers, switches, access points, and any other network-related hardware. Standardize on a refresh cycle for hardware, maintain maintenance contracts and provision services as needed to support business requirements.
- Stay up to date with the latest network technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
- Provide associated training to relevant personnel.
Skill/Experience/Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, and a minimum of 10 – 15 years related experience and/or training.
- Strong Networking operational fundamentals.
- VMWare and NSX operational fundamentals.
- Experienced with a variety of Cisco network hardware.
- Knowledge/Experience in working with a team in a business continuity/disaster recovery program.
- Experience in reporting and emergency response planning.
- System Monitoring and Incident Response.
- Project management and implementation.
- 5 – 10 years’ experience in staff development and management.
- Experience with network security technologies, such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure, including wireless, switches, routers, and firewalls.
- ITIL related processes for change, incident, event, and problem management.
- Support mission critical systems and networks on a (7x24x365) basis.
- Proficiency with network protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience with technical project management skills, ITIL processes, strong analytical and organizational skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, team oriented, and the ability to supervise Network Operations staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, and CCIE are a plus.
